Reiko was late for her work and was scolded by her chief editor. He ordered her to go collect the late manuscripts, which means she has to collect Kantarou’s manuscript. As usual Kantarou hasn’t finished his manuscript yet. Reiko gave him one more day to finish it. If by tomorrow he hasn’t finished the manuscript she will have to invite him to the office to finish it in front of her. Later in the evening Reiko had a business diner with a writer and her chief editor. The writer wanted to hit on Reiko, but she refused and pushed him into the pond. Her chief editor saw the whole thing happening and told Reiko to go home first. Reiko was upset about it and drank a lot of sake. She went to Kantarou’s house and woke everyone up. Kantarou ordered Haruka to fly Reiko home. When he brought her home, Reiko wanted to seduce Haruka, but luckily Muu-chan and Sugino appeared in time. Sugino asked Haruka why hasn’t left Kantarou yet. Sugino believes that human and youkai can’t possibly live together.
The next morning Youko delivered lunch to Reiko’s chief editor. She wanted to say hello to Reiko, but as usual Reiko was spending her lunch break in the basement where she reads the books that are stored there. While Reiko was reading a book a spirit appeared and sucked her into the book. When the lunch break was almost over the spirit released Reiko from the book. After lunch break Reiko went to Kantarou’s house to collect the manuscript. Kantarou hasn’t finished the manuscript yet, but Reiko wasn't mad. She invited Kantarou to come to the office later on where he can finish the manuscript. Kantarou noticed something strange about Reiko and thinks a spirit must have possessed her. He sent Haruka and Youko to investigate what kind of spirit has possessed Reiko. They followed her to her business dinner with her chief editor and the writer of last time. The writer wanted to write about a love story in a spa and he wanted to do some research for it. He wants Reiko to accompany him. Before Reiko can gave him her answer, the spirit took over and used his powers to strangle the writer. After Reiko and her chief editor took the writer to a doctor, Reiko headed back to the office for her appointment with Kantarou.
As promised Kantarou went to Reiko’s office to finish the manuscript. During the break Reiko went to the basement. Kantarou, Haruka and Youko followed her and saw that the spirit sucked Reiko into the book. Haruka wanted to attack the spirit, but Kantarou told him not to because he couldn’t sense anything evil about it. Kantarou asked for the spirit’s name. The spirit answered his name is Fuguruma Youhi. He was an old book that has turned into a youkai. He knows that Reiko loves books. That’s why he sucked her into the book so she can enjoy the book from the bottom of her heart. The spirit attacked the writer because he wanted to protect Reiko. In the end Kantarou didn’t vanquish the spirit.
Argh, a filler episode! While I enjoyed watching the past four episodes I can’t say the same about this one. I don’t understand why they didn’t continue the Minamoto Raikou arc. Haruka’s past is much more interesting than Reiko’s passion for books. It’s not that I don’t like her character, I just like Haruka better (Minamoto Raikou is interesting as well).
As usual Sugino and Muu-chan appeared at the strangest moments. I don’t mind though, because they are so cute!
