[[ Bleach episodes 11 & 12 ]]

Ichigo and his friends are called to the principal’s office to explain why they were on television. Thanks to Rukia's acting skills, they managed to escape. Then Rukia received a signal on her cell phone – a Hollow has appeared. When they arrived at the scene they found a “normal” ghost instead of a Hollow. Apparently someone else has already destroyed the Hollow. Later on signals keep appearing on and disappearing of Rukia’s cell phone. When Rukia and Ichigo rushed to fight a Hollow they ran into a guy named Ishida Uruyuu. He tells Ichigo he hates Death Gods. It turns out Ishida has special powers as well. He can form a bow with his powers that shoots of arrows to kill Hollows. Ishida tells Ichigo that he is a Quincy. The next day Rukia went to Urahara’s store to ask him about Quincy’s. According to Urahara, Quincy’s are an anti-demon clan that was specialized in anti-Hollow combat, which were scattered across the globe. They were destroyed 200 years ago. The main difference between Death Gods and Quincy’s is that Quincy’s kill Hollows, while Death Gods purifies Hollows’ souls with a Soul Slayer and then send them to Soul Society.
Meanwhile Ichigo discovers that Ishida Uruyuu is actually his classmate. He is in the handicrafts club like Orihime. Ichigo followed Ishida after school, but was discovered by him. Ishida knew all along about Ichigo’s powers, when he gained his Death God powers and about Rukia’s true identity. He challenged Ichigo to a match. At first Ichigo refused, but then Ishida cracked open anti-Hollow bait to lure out all the Hollows in the city. Whoever kills the most Hollows will be declared as the winner. Ishida tells Ichigo that Hollows prefer to attack humans with high spiritual powers. Ichigo immediately thinks of his sister Karin. Ichigo hasn’t noticed that Orihime, Chad and even Tatsuke have high spiritual powers. Because of their high spiritual powers, Hollows will attack them as well. Chad is the first one to get attacked. He was in the city with some friends when he sensed that “something” is after him (Chad can’t see Hollows very clearly). He didn’t want to endanger his friends so he started to run. He eventually ran to the soccer field where Ichigo’s sister, Karin, was playing with her friends. She saw the Hollow and knew that Chad couldn’t see the Hollow very clearly. Therefore she decided to be his eyes and to tell him where the Hollow is and what it’s doing. Even with Karin’s help, Chad was unable to defeat the Hollow. Then he remembered that his Grandfather once told him, he was born with this incredible strength to protect people and not to hurt them. Suddenly a special armour appeared on Chad’s right arm. With it Chad easily defeated the Hollow. This episode ended with Orihime, who sensed that a Hollow is nearby.

This has got to be the most interesting arc up till now. I just love Ishida Uruyuu. He likes to act cool, but at the same time he has such a weird hobby. Gotta love a man who knows how to sew. Rukia acting skills are great. She should really consider a career in showbiz. Chad finally discovers his special powers, next up is Orihime. In the manga (yes, I have finally read the manga) she had some awesome powers. I hope she gets the same powers in the anime as well (I’m not going to spoil anything – locks her mouth and throws away the key). One thing did bothered me: Karin’s spiritual powers are higher than Chad and Orihime’s, so why doesn’t she have any special powers? Can anyone explain this to me – I’m too stupid!

A vengeful spirit with wings has been attacking the citizens of Kyou. Yorihisa knows the vengeful spirit: it’s Nue (a mythical beast in Japanese stories that resembles a chimera). When Yorihisa was little, he used to go to the mountains to try and defeat Nue. However he never succeeded.
Now, after several years, he has to go back to the mountains to face Nue. Nue appeared, but it seems he has changed. He attacked Yorihisa, Tenma and Shimon and abducted Akane. If Yorihisa wanted Akane back he has to meet Nue alone at the summit of the mountain. Tenma didn’t agree with Yorihisa, but he didn’t have much choice. Yorihisa went to the summit all by himself. Nue came and attacked Yorihisa from behind. He told Yorihisa to kill him if he wants to save Akane, otherwise he has to die along with her. Although Yorihisa didn’t want to kill Nue, he still killed him in the end. He had no choice, because Nue was being controlled by Akuram. If he didn’t kill Nue, Nue would have hurt Akane.

It was so sad Nue had to die. It’s that stupid Akuram’s fault – I HATE HIM, HATE HIM, HATE HIM…………….did I mention how much I hate him? Anyway, up till now I have always thought of Yorihisa as a bit boring. His face is expressionless and he doesn’t seem to care for anyone else besides his precious Miko-dono. I guess he has his reasons for behaving like this. He comes from a family of warriors who have high expectations of him. I think that’s also the reason why he doesn’t becomes friends with someone very easily. He was raised too strictly. Besides his brother, Nue was his first real friend – SO WHY DID HE HAD TO DIE, WHY, WHY?? – I’m sorry I got carried away (again).

Youko-chan’s neighbor gave Youko-chan a taiyaki as a reward for her hard-working. She put the taiyaki in a closet to eat it after her chores. Unfortunately Kantarou and Haruka were hungry and ate the taiyaki. When Youko-chan found out about this she ran away from home. She went to the mountain to look for Sugino and Muu-chan. They agreed to let Youko-chan stay with them, but Youko-chan couldn’t stand Muu-chan eating habits (she likes to eat bugs) and left. She went to Suzu’s place, but quickly got bored after two days. Youko-chan disappeared again and started to work at a tea store called the Birk Hall. A suspicious looking man was interested in Youko-chan and wanted her to work for him. He offered her more wages than she was earning right now so she agreed to work for him. The man told Youko-chan that he is the owner of an exhibition store, while in fact he captures youkai to let them perform for an audience. Kantarou, Haruka and Suzu-chan followed Youko-chan to the exhibition store. They saw how that man tortured the youkai. When it was Youko-chan’s turn to perform, Kantarou saved her. Haruka was about to punish the man, but then he suddenly transformed into a raccoon. Apparently the man just wanted others to acknowledge his power, that’s why he captured youkai. Kantarou shaved the raccoon’s head as a reminder if he ever wanted to do something bad again.
On their way home, Kantarou and Haruka apologized to Youko-chan. The next day Youko-chan went back to the Birk Hall to work.

This was a filler episode, but nonetheless enjoyable. Kantarou is so insensitive at times. He doesn’t know when he has crossed the line. He is lucky Youko-chan can tolerate his behavior most of the time. Haruka is cool as always, but it is obvious he cares for Youko-chan as well.
By the way, when Kantarou asked the man if he saw Youko-chan, he made funny expressions and poses.

[[ Yakitate!! Japan episode 8 ]]

The southern Tokyo Pantasia store received a P-card. It’s a draft for a challenge that brings together all the newcomers from all 128 stores around the country. The goal of the challenge is to measure the skills of the newcomers against each other. Ken was the winner eleven years ago. Tsukino was among the top three eight years ago. Whoever wins the challenge will receive one million Yen, a sabbatical to France and a special treatment of possible placement at the main store. This year the competition is between 512 newcomers, three times more than the usual number. The first assignment is to make long lasting dinner bread. The bread has to remain eatable for at least three weeks. Kazuma immediately thinks of Japan #32. He changed his clothes and left the store after saying he is going to search for the ingredients for Japan #32. He even told Kawachi he would gather the ingredients for him as well. Kawachi doesn’t seem to like it though. He wants to win the challenge by himself, because he doesn’t want to rely on Kazuma’s skills. Seeing him like this, Tsukino decided to help Kawachi gain “Solar Hands”.
She took Kawachi to a sports club to train him. Tsukino tells Kawachi to swim 10km twice a day. Kawachi has to swim with a float on that becomes heavier after it absorbed moisture. Ken was at the sports club as well. He knows Tsukino is helping Kawachi, because she is after the price money. Tsukino admits part of her is doing this for the money, because she wants to use the money to remodel the southern Tokyo Pantasia store. Another reason why she is helping Kawachi is because she truly believes in him.
Meanwhile Kawachi is about to give up on his training. The training is too intense. When Kawachi was slowly sinking to the bottom of the pool, he heard his father’s voice. His father’s dream was to become an employee of the Pantasia main store so that he can provide his family with a better life. Each year he applied for the new employee exam, but he never passed it. Although he kept failing, Kawachi’s father never gave up. He taught his son not to give up as well. One day when Kawachi’s father was baking bread again his oven caught fire which burned down the entire house with Kawachi’s father still in it. Ever since that day, Kawachi has been determined to fulfill his father’s dream to provide his family with a better life. After remembering his father’s words, Kawachi resumed his training.

No bread baking in this episode, instead we get to know a bit more about Kawachi’s past. Now I understand why he wants to become an employee of the main store so badly. Can’t wait to watch the challenge between the newcomers, but I think I’ll have to wait for at least a few more episodes. Kawachi has to finish his training first and Kazuma has to find the ingredients for Japan #32.

Tenma's classmates decided to help Tenma with Karasuma. They invited Tenma and Karasuma to go to a curry shop. On the way to the curry shop they used lame excuses to ditch Tenma and Karasuma. Sawakachi went to Harima (who has become a fortune teller) to ask what her father’s favourite food is. When she left she told Harima to go back to school. Harima began to talk to himself. He said that he no longer has feelings for Tenma and that he has left his earthly life. Then Tenma and Karasuma happened to walk by. Tenma wanted to know her L.O.V.E. fortune with Karasuma. Before Harima could tell Tenma her fortune, Tenma asks Karasuma whether he likes her more or curry. Without hesitation Karasuma answered: "curry". Tenma thought Karasuma misunderstood her and asked him another question: whether he likes her more or vacuum-sealed curry. Karasuma couldn’t decide which made Tenma very sad. Tenma ran away and left Harima with Karasuma. Harima became mad at Karasuma and wanted to kick him, but Karasuma dodged him easily. He told Harima to go after Tenma, because he has other things to do (he needed to go to the curry shop). Harima went after Tenma, but he slipped and fell off the stairs. A girl reached out to help Harima get up. Harima thought she was Tenma and grabbed her hand and confessed to her. When he looked again he saw he confessed to Sawakachi. Sawakachi didn’t know how to respond. Luckily for her and Harima the woman, where Harima has been living with the past few days showed up and dragged Harima away. But Harima wasn’t completely saved though, because Sawakachi kicked Harima in the face.
After confessing to Sawakachi, Harima somewhat regained his confidence. He decided to confess to Tenma the next day. If he fails he will quit school. Harima wrote a love letter and a letter of resignation. The next day he put the love letter in Tenma’s locker and went to the roof to wait for Tenma to show up. Later on Tenma finally showed up, but instead of confessing her love she asked Harima why his letter of resignation was in her locker. Harima was devastated after he found out he accidentally mixed up the content of both letters. To Harima’s surprise Tenma tells him not to quit school. She wants him to go back to school. After hearing this Harima regained confidence and became the old Harima.

Yeah – Harima is back! I am so happy. I hated the loser Harima. The old confident Harima is much more fun. It was quite unexpected that Karasuma told Harima to go after Tenma. Too bad Harima confessed to the wrong person. I think Sawakachi didn’t mind though, because she blushed when Harima confessed to her. She even became jealous when she saw Harima with another woman. Tenma is still as clueless as ever, but at least now she knows Karasuma doesn’t like her. I hope she will give up chasing after Karasuma and pay more attention to Harima, but I guess that is something I can only dream of.

Yajirou, Rusyana and Mikan continue their journey to the capital. Yajirou keeps thinking about his past. He lost a comrade, because he couldn’t hold on to her hand (she fell of a cliff). The next moment they arrive at a cabin. Rusyana and Mikan wanted to take a bath so Yajirou went outside. Suddenly he sees his comrade Shirato Fuuka who supposed to have died a few years ago. She attacks Yajirou with her weapon. Meanwhile Rusyana was worried Yajirou would catch a cold so she asked Mikan to let Yajirou in. When they opened the door they didn’t see Yajirou. They want to go look for him, but their clothes haven’t dried yet. Mikan has the solution to solve this problem. She can make outfits out of her balloons. She made a sexy outfit for herself and gave Rusyana a pink bunny outfit. Surprisingly enough Rusyana liked her outfit. Then Rusyana was attacked by Shirato Fuuta. She was sent by Tenshi-sama to kill Rusyana. The bunny outfit limited Rusyana’s movements. Luckily Shirato Fuuta accidentally blew a hole in Rusyana’s outfit, which made the outfit shrunk to fit Rusyana. Rusyana recognized the weapon Fuuta was using, it’s the Enlightenment of a Demon. She knows the Jester must be behind all of this and calls for him.
Then Yajirou showed up to stop the fight between Rusyana and Fuuta. The Jester explains that Fuuta nearly died a few years ago. She survived, because she accepted the Enlightenment of a Demon, without it she will die. Yajirou doesn’t understand why Fuuta chose to follow Tenshi-sama. Fuuta answers she believes in Tenshi-sama’s ideals. After hearing this Rusyana attacks the Jester. She couldn’t hit him, but she did manage to shoot of his mask. Yajirou and Fuuta recognized him. He is Kaizan Doushi who used to be their leader. Kaizan Doushi was angry, because they saw his face. He attacked them, but couldn’t hit anyone. Yajirou and Fuuta confront Kaizan Doushi. They want to know why he is doing this. He answers that he is seeking for power. Kaizan asked Yajirou to join him, but he refused. Apparently this answer wasn’t the answer Kaizan expected so he decided to kill them. Fuuta managed to block the attack, but she and Yajirou were blown away by the power. They ended up in the same situation they were a few years ago: hanging on a cliff, while Yajirou is holding Fuuta. Fuuta knew Yajirou couldn’t hold on for much longer and decided to do the same thing she did back then; she let go of Yajirou’s hand. Yajirou would have also fallen if Rusyana and Mikan didn’t show up in time. This episode ends with Rusyana, Mikan and Yajirou reaching the capital.

As expected this episode had more story development and excitement than the previous episodes. Too bad Fuuta had to die in the end. I started to like her a bit. Of course Yajirou is sad about it, but there isn't much he can do. Rusyana's bunny outfit was cute (and I don't mean the spandex pink outfit). She is actually quite silly when she isn't fighting. I wonder when she put the bullets in her cleavage.
