The mayor of a village has asked Kantarou to investigate the deaths of five people who have died of unnatural causes. Two of the victims were the husbands of Suzakuin Kyouko. She is the head of the shrine in the village. Kyouko has two (twin) daughters: Mai and Miyabi. Miyabi is the maiden of the village who performs the oracle ceremony each year. Unfortunately Miyabi also has an incurable illness. Meanwhile Kantarou isn’t making much progress investigating the case until another victim appeared. Kantarou started to suspect someone, but doesn’t have any evidence to support his suspicion.
One night while Haruka went to visit Miyabi and Kantarou went to look for Kyouko, the twin sisters wanted to seduce them, they failed however. When it was time for the oracle ceremony, Suzu went to look for Mai. She couldn’t find her in her room, but she did saw a strange mirror. When she looked in it, the mirror hypnotized Suzu to call for Haruka. When Haruka entered Mai’s room she used an Onmyou’s spell to restrain Haruka. Apparently Mai is a worshipper of Taizanfukun (Chinese God of life. It became the main God of the Yin Yanf philosophy by Haruaki Abe). She needed Haruka’s life to save Miyabi. Taizanfukun told her that Mai has to kill those who love Miyabi in order to save her. Because Miyabi’s condition has worsened Mai needed to take desperate measures. When she was about to kill Haruka, Kantarou appeared and saved him. Kantarou told Mai that it wasn’t Taizanfukun she has been worshipping, but an evil spirit. By sacrificing people Mai can’t save Miyabi. What she needed is a human being who is willing to die for Miyabi. Haruka then broke the mirror and Kantarou destroyed the evil spirit. By that time Miyabi has already finished the oracle ceremony and was about to die. Mai begged Kantarou to call for the real Taizanfukun and sacrifice her life to save Miyabi, but Kantarou refused. Miyabi died after saying a few words to Mai. Mai hated Kantarou and told him she would bear a grudge against him for the rest of her life.
Later on Haruka asked Kantarou why he didn’t explain to Mai that even if he had called for Taizanfukun a sinner like Mai couldn’t replace Miyabi. Kantarou answered that hatred can be used as one’s mental nourishment. At the end of this episode the weather started to change. It seems a heavy storm is coming up.
These two episodes were better than the previous ones. There is finally some story development. For some unknown reasons Haruka hates Onmyou. Perhaps it has something to do with his past. Whatever it is, I want to know. Youko-chan is funny with her "Marry a woman far above you plan". I can't believe Kantarou actually thought of such plan. He really is greedy.
Oh, and I agree with Ten, the twins are too young to think about seducing men. I wonder who taught them that?
