Urahara and his assistants armed themselves to capture the modified soul. Meanwhile the modified soul is fighting Ichigo, but seems to be losing. He fled and Ichigo wanted to follow him, but he received orders to search and destroy an escaped Hollow. The modified soul sensed that a Hollow is nearby the school he was at. He knows that the Hollow wants to attack the kids, he wanted to punish earlier, so he decided to go back and save them. Unfortunately the modified soul is no match for the Hollow and was wounded by it. Ichigo showed up just in time to save the modified soul. Together they defeated the Hollow. The Hollow was about to fall down, but then the modified soul kicked him in the sky. It turns out that the modified soul wanted to save a colony of ants. The modified soul explains to Ichigo that he doesn’t kill, because he feels that everyone has the right to live and die. He was fortunate that he was mixed up with other medicine and therefore escaped from being destroyed.
Urahara then showed up and used a stick to pop out the modified soul from Ichigo’s body. Urahara wanted to destroy the modified soul, but Rukia stopped him. She retrieved the medicine from Urahara and gave it to Ichigo. Urahara told Rukia that if the modified soul should cause any problems, he couldn’t be held responsible. After saying this he left with his assistants.
Ichigo got his body back and walked back home with Rukia. On their way home, Ichigo wanted to yell at the modified soul. In order to do this he needed something to inject the modified soul in. Ichigo saw a stuffed animal on top of a pile of trash and injected the soul into the bear. The stuffed animal came to live and immediately started to yell at Ichigo. The modified soul was shocked after he found out that he had become a stuffed animal (Kon is lovely as a stuffed animal. Just want to pinch his cheeks and hug him). Ichigo took him home and let him stay at his place. He names the modified soul: Kon. Kon however likes the name Kai more, because Kai means modified. Ichigo refused because he thinks the name Kai is too cool and that pisses him off.
Ichigo was getting dressed for school and then realised that tomorrow is the day his mother died/ was killed. He tells Rukia he wants the day off for tomorrow. At first she refused, but then Ichigo told her about his mother and she agreed.
The fight between Kon and Ichigo was less spectacular than I had expected. I had expected Ichigo to be no match for Kon, because he is extremely strong and agile. Guess I was wrong. Anyway this episode had a few funny moments: when Kon argued with Ichigo about his name and when Kon looked into Rukia’s skirt and said: "nice angle". This episode ended with a few major cliffhangers: how did Ichigo’s mother die and who killed her, what will happen to Rukia's "human"body and who did Soul Society sent to get Rukia? A smaller cliffhanger is Orihime's feelings for Ichigo.
