Mikan wants everyone to sign a petition against shutting down the school. The government wants to shut down the school and have all the students to commute to the city schools. Mikan is best friends with Hotaru. Hotaru is a very smart girl who is specialized in nana technology. She is very skilled in inventing all kinds of things, such as a pink hippo that can catch fish. Mikan likes Hotaru a lot (as a friend), but Hotaru doesn't seem to care about Mikan (or at least that's what Mikan thought). A week ago Hotaru sent Mikan a letter by turtle mail. Mikan received the letter today and finds out that Hotaru will transfer to another school: Alice Gakuen. Hotaru promised to stay in touch with Mikan, but has only sent her one postcard in the past nine months.

Mikan thought Hotaru has forgotten about her, because she heard that every new student of Alice Gakuen receives a huge amount of money from the Government. She thought that Hotaru left her for the money, but then she overheard the conversation between Hotaru's mother and the principal. It turns out that Hotaru donated all the money she received from the Government to prevent the school from being shut down. Mikan is determined to find Hotaru and left home. The next day she arrived at the front gate of Alice Gakuen. The gatekeeper wouldn't let her enter the school. Two delinquents saw Mikan at the front gate and thought they could kidnap her to demand ransom from her parents (they assumed that students of Alice Gakuen must be filthy rich and thought that Mikan was one of these students). A teacher appeared and used his powers to have the delinquents release Mikan. He used his powers to persuade Mikan to go home, but it didn't work. It appears that Mikan has an "Alice" as well and is therefore immune to his powers. The teacher said that Mikan could enter Alice Gakuen, because she has a special power. Suddenly the wall exploded. A boy wearing a cat mask is standing on the fence, he is the boy genius Hyuuga Natsume.

Hahahahaha, this is such a funny anime. Mikan is hilarious and her expressions are priceless. I can see why Hotaru is friends with her. Hotaru isn't very good at expressing her feelings, but she does care for Mikan. The teacher of Alice Gakuen is bishie, but also a bit feminine. He has a nice voice (Akira Ishida) and cool powers, I want that too. I think Hyuuga Natsume is a very cool character, during the opening song I saw a few spoilers ^_^. Can't wait for the next episode!
