The first episode starts with our main character: Orpherus, who dreams about his sister who died a few years ago. Orpherus is a student of the Rozenstolz Academy. This academy educates candidates to become future Strahls (members of the Cabinet). Orpherus is one of those candidates. He is friends with Eduard and Camus. His biggest adversary at school is his fellow student Ludwig. His personality and way of handling things differs from Orpherus. Orpherus cares about the people in this country, Ludwig only thinks about defending this country at all cost. Naoji, a Japanese student, is a friend of Ludwig's.
An evil teacher, Beruze, persuaded one of Ludwig’s followers to put up a note that says Eduard has no right to attend this academy, because he is a bastard son. Orpherus thought this was Ludwig's doing and challenged him to a sword duel. Naoji found out who the real culprit was and managed to capture him. Naoji then used two branches to break up the fight between Orpherus and Ludwig.
A lot of bishies, but that's not the (main) reason why I watched this anime. The artwork is done nicely, although the eyes of some characters are drawn very strangely. The story is original, but tends to get boring at times. Especially when they talk about politics.
It has become clear that Orpherus and Ludwig don't seem to get along very well, but they do seem to respect each other. The students of the academy are either pro Ludwig or pro Orpherus. I personally think that Ludwig is a more interesting character, because he isn't as boring as Orpherus. Orpherus is too righteous.
I think I'll keep watching this anime (if I have the time). I just hope the next episode will be a bit more exciting and I hope it will become clear what I can expect from this anime. I still don't know in which genre I can put Meine Liebe.
By the way, has anyone noticed that the uniforms of Orpherus and his gang are very similar to the uniforms of the characters in Kyou Kara Maou and Fullmetal Alchemist?
