Akane, Tenma, Shimon, Tomomasa and Yorihisa went to the Hanashizuma festival. Abe Yasuaki was at the festival as well. Akane and Yasuaki have the duty to purify the cherry-blossom tree. The tree absorbed the impurity in Kyou and became tainted red. If the petals of the tree fall and reach Kyou, the entire capital will be destroyed.
Akram showed up and sent a panther to kill all the priests who were supposed to help purify the tree. He wants to take Akane with him, but Tenma, Shimon and Yorihisa rushed to the scene to save her. Unfortunately they were no match for Akram, even with Tenma’s newfound powers.
Akram attacks Yasuaki with his sword. Yasuaki managed to hit the sword away from Akram, this was however part of Akram’s plan. The sword flew up and cut off a branch of the cherry-blossom tree. The petals turned into little demons and attacked everyone. Tenma attacks Akram, but fails to defeat him. Akram was about to kill Tenma if it wasn’t for Yorihisa who blocked the attack. Akram wounded Yorihisa, Akane was mad because of this and unleashed her powers. By doing so, she destroyed all the little demons and purified the tree.
This episode was so-so. Not great, but not bad either. Tenma has feelings for Akane, but he is afraid to show them. He hates it when Tomomasa embraces Akane or compliments her how great she looks. I think Tomomasa is doing this on purpose. He knows that Tenma likes Akane and that he is afraid to tell her this. I like it when Tomomasa teases Tenma. Tenma is just a little hothead. He is easily pissed and talks about protecting Akane all the time (YEAH, we know that already). Akane is annoying as usual. I still think she is a crybaby. Her powers seem unstable. Akane doesn’t know how to control them yet, just like Tenma. I hope the next episode focuses more on Tomomasa and Yasuaki, I think they are cool and more interesting than the other characters.
