Naoji finds out that his father sent him to Kuchen on purpose. His father knows that Japan is about to enter a chaotic era and he wanted to protect Naoji from it. Naoji was shocked after hearing this. He wants to go back to Japan, but at the same time he doesn't want to leave his friends either. Camus, Lui, Orphe and Ed try to talk him out of it. They want him to stay with them. It doesn't seem to help though, until Ed takes Naoji to the town to relax. A woman named Hilde pulled Naoji's arm and tells him to follow her to her inn. A Japanese customer named Hasekawa wanted to talk to Naoji. That man is very ill and probably won't make it to the next day. He saw Naoji walking on the streets the other day and wanted to talk to a fellow Japanese before he dies. Because Hasekawa reminds Naoji of his father, he decided to stay with him for the night. The next day there is a simulation tourney on the Rozenstolz Academy. Naoji is scheduled to duel Orphe, but it appears that Naoji won't show up in time. Lui and Orphe try to stall time by duelling each other.
Meanwhile Naoji has read Hasekawa's journal, which very well could have been Naoji autobiography (their lives seems to be very similar). Hasekawa died and his soul went out of his body. He talked to Naoji before he left and made Naoji understand which decision he should make. In the end we see Naoji arrive in time for his duel with Orphe.
At first I didn't know what to think of Naoji's character. After watching this episode I have become a true Naoji-fan. Naoji is smart, gentle, caring and kind, no wonder Lui favors him so much. Lui and Orphe even teamed up to help Naoji, now that's something you won't see every day.
I think the writers did a good job portraying Naoji's feelings for his family in Japan and for his friends at the Rozenstolz Academy. It was a very hard decision that Naoji had to make, but I think he made the right one. Meine Liebe would be less enjoyable without Naoji.
